Wwoofing or is that wwooching?
The Dancing River Sprite, a teahouse and boutique, is owned by my Sister and her Husband. I am supposed to say a few words in this book...I am apparently, though, better at long winded. A sprite is a fairy. To some that is obvious. To others it is not. I have not seen any fairies other than the one on the sign that is hidden behind some trees. The "Dancing River Sprite" is a pretty name but the dancing part may not be what you expect - it is the fairies dancing away from the black flies. It is not a pretty dance - lots of flailing of the arms and occasionally accompanied by language that would not be considered fairy like. Read More
Another use for a frisbee.
On a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon Chris Jackson and I leave Iqaluit and head up Sylvia Grinnell River with 10 days of power bars, Slimfast shakes (yes, I needed to lose weight) and premixed dried dinners, backpacking gear, and a boat on our backs. Read More

Westcoast trail experience
...will be different for everyone. The weather you experience, the injuries you sustain, the encounters with wildlife, the interactions with people, the things you forget, the things you should have forgotten, the stories that are, the stories that could have been, whatever happens it is an experience worth remembering. Left on the side of the road in the desert...
Tina, Rob, Rory and I are driving through a hilly pass in the Arizona desert on a scorching day in June. Life is good. I am not driving - sitting in the back enjoying a few refreshments. Being on a secluded desert road Tina volunteers to drive for the first time. While Rob and Tina switch positions I decide to step outside to flush out some of the beverages I have been consuming.
